It's even better to do it early and do it well. Talk
to someone who has been successful in the past. Start
now. Invest for the long-run. Learn about
compounded interest -- Calc I. Take a few ECON
classes, they'll be good for you. The school provides
faculty/staff with opportunities to invest in:
Golf -- Okay, so it's not the
world's greatest spectator sport. But it can be a nice
way to waste a morning or an afternoon. Find a pro you
can work with and develop good technique. Then you can
start putting your money into equipment.
The Palm Desert Project:
Currently in its tenth year, work on the family cabin in
Palm Desert continues. We are currently moving into
the kitchen for a complete tear down and rebuild. See

Ad for Statistics -- Arthur
Benjamin, a mathematician at Harvey Mudd, makes the case
that probability and statistics are of more use to most
people than is the more traditional calculus. What he
fails to mention is that much of advanced probability and
statistics can't be comprehended without a knowledge of
calculus. The talk (high resolution,
low resolution) was given at a
meeting of high school teachers in Palm Springs (2009).
