Mathematical Research Interests - Janet L. Beery

Dr. Beery's primary research interest is permutation group theory approached via representation and character theory and via combinatorial techniques. More specifically, she is interested in

(1) developing combinatorial formulas describing the relationship between certain highly transitive permutation groups of prime degree and their group characters;

(2) classifying certain kinds of transitive groups of prime degree without using the proof techniques of the classification theorem for finite simple groups (CFSG);

(3) using permutation characters to contribute to the proof of the Permanental Dominance Conjecture; and

(4) contributing to "second generation" proofs of CFSG.

Please e-mail her if you have any questions or suggestions.
